A little about me.
I’m Jake, a creative and globetrotter loosely *key word* based out of Nashville, Tennessee. For me, being behind a camera is simply about the opportunity to explore my curiosity and tell a story. Whether it's shooting an indigenous tribe in Ecuador, a Lululemon yoga experience, or a local Nashville musician, it's all about the challenge of taking the story that's in front of me and telling it in the most honest and captivating way possible.
At the age of 21, I took a risk and moved to Kenya to volunteer as a photojournalist and pursue a career as a photographer. And now, years down the road, I’ve traveled to 55+ countries, and have been fortunate enough to make my passion my career. Now, I spend my time traveling shooting for various brands and companies helping tell their story all over the world.
When I’m not shooting, you can find me playing basketball, eating street food, or booking a flight. I believe a single image has the power to influence someone to take action and MAKE THE JUMP, taking the trip of a lifetime, and I never want to stop creating for this reason- As someone who has witnessed the power of travel, I value stepping out of one’s comfort zone and helping others see the powerful perspective of travel, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to get out of their bubble and realize that the world isn’t so big after all.
Dream.
Life is a gift. An amazing one at that. And in this life, I believe we grow up too fast. What a shame! For me, it’s so important to remain childlike. To keep that spark. What do children do every day? They dream. They imagine, they play pretend.
As I’ve grown up, I’ve decided well, not to grow up. To keep those childlike dreams alive. Every day is an opportunity to chase after my dreams. Dreams of travel, dreams of making an impact, and dreams of using creativity to do so.
Create.
Creativity spills out every time I have my camera in hand. It truly doesn't matter what I'm shooting, as long as I feel I get to connect with people and tell a story. It allows every project to feel brand new. Because every project is a unique opportunity to create something beautiful out of a new story. That's where I thrive, get all giddy, and usually let out a few dance moves and small (or not so small) squeals.
Do.
We get to do this once. Wow. What else do you need? The passion and inspiration flows from a determination not to waste a single moment. So, whether you see my passion through photography or through plenty of other things- new cultures, nature, basketball, seeing the world, or always attempting to find the best street food on planet earth, one thing is for sure- for me, it's about finding whatever spark of childlike joy and excitement you have in you and never letting it go. Taking hold of every second. Taking action. And never taking the gift of life for granted.
